Urgent Care Centers

When the medical need arises, determining the most appropriate type of care or accessing the right level of care isn’t always an easy choice to make.
Recognizing that patients require different levels of medical intervention based on the medical need or emergency, Memorial Healthcare System has been expanding a network of care that aims to meet the patients’ needs online or in person.
The latest addition to this network of care that provides consumers with choices for treatment is a 3,088-square-foot Urgent Care Center, located at Sheridan Street and 166th Avenue in West Pembroke Pines which is scheduled to open late 2017.
Additionally, a second urgent care center is slated to open in 2018 in east Hollywood at the intersection of Sheridan Street and US1.
“We want to provide our patients with the right level of care at the right time, and to accomplish this vision, we needed to diversify the access points of care so that patients get the attention they need,” said Aurelio M. Fernandez, III, FACHE, president and CEO, Memorial Healthcare System.
In addition to the upcoming Urgent Care Center, Memorial Healthcare System offers a variety of treatment options and locations based on a variety of health needs for adults and children.
• A Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Trauma Center and Emergency Room at Memorial Regional Hospital – the only pediatric trauma center in south Broward County and one of two pediatric emergency rooms in south Broward County;
• Adult emergency rooms at Memorial Regional Hospital, Memorial Hospital Pembroke, Memorial Hospital West, Memorial Hospital Miramar;
• Memorial Pembroke 24/7 Care Center providing outpatient minor-emergency care in a convenient location as a walk-in patient or by appointment with online scheduling capabilities. Patients are typically seen and treated in shorter time frames than in traditional hospital emergency rooms. The goal is to have patients on their way in two hours or less;
• MemorialDOCNow.com provides access to board-certified physicians through a live video chat for non-emergency conditions for adults and children. No appointment is necessary and can be used 24/7.
At the new Urgent Care Center, adults and children will be able to receive treatment for minor illnesses and injuries.
Staffed by expert physicians, the center will offer online check-in and accept walk-ins. Services will include digital X-rays, EKGs, laboratory tests, vaccinations, physical exams and Workers’ Compensation injury exams. The center will be open seven days a week from 9 am to 9 pm, Monday-Friday, and 9 am to 5 pm, Saturday and Sunday.
“Our desire in opening the Urgent Care Center is to meet the medical or healthcare needs of our residents by giving them more options. The center is just one more piece in our quest to provide greater access for all in response to increased consumer and health plan expectations of affordability and quality healthcare,” said Melida Akiti, Vice President, Ambulatory and Community Services, Memorial Healthcare System.
