Miracle League Baseball Returns for Opening Night August 26

After a hiatus that resulted from the COVID19 pandemic, the West Pembroke Pines Miracle League baseball season starts Friday, August 26, at 7 pm at Rose Price Park in West Pembroke Pines, 901 NW 208th Avenue.

The Miracle League, supported by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, is made up of children with disabilities, and volunteer buddies and coaches. Everyone will take the field in a friendly game of baseball, while celebrating the start of the long-awaited season with a special opening ceremony.

The Miracle League provides many of these special needs children with their first chance at sportsmanship and teamwork. Since 2014, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital has given the Miracle League full support to operate an official regular season that begins Friday night and concludes on November 4, with a World Series game. Volunteer buddies – students from Flanagan High School – will be with each Miracle player on the field, affording parents the experience to watch their kids play and enjoy the game.

Caitlin Stella, CEO, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, will throw the first pitch. City of Pembroke Pines and community dignitaries will be present.

Miracle Players, parents, volunteers, coaches, along with Miracle League founders Mario Salceda, Chief Operating Officer, Memorial Physician Group of Memorial Healthcare System, and Frank Marquez of BSN Sports will be in attendance.

The event will take place at Rose Price Park, 901 NW 208th Avenue (Johnson Street & 208 Avenue).
