Patient Stories

Give a Gift and Catch the Love

As a parent, it’s a living nightmare. Having a very sick child, one whose life depends on getting the right treatment right away, creates fear and uncertainty far beyond the scope of life’s many challenges.

It’s for that child, that family, that moment, that we exist. To drive away the fear with hope. To dissolve uncertainty with trust. To restore a parent’s dreams of a healthy, happy child. Of a lifetime of love.

Won’t you help Catch The Love? Every dollar you donate empowers us to heal more children and save more lives. And what does that look like? Take a few moments to watch these stories of real patients, real families, whose lives have been transformed because people like you helped us Catch The Love.

Ariana

Born with a serious heart defect, baby Ariana had one chance to live. Specialists at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Heart Institute were there when she needed them.

They Gave Us Hope – Ariana’s Congenital Heart Defect Care

Ariana would be born with multiple cardiac defects caused by hypoplastic left heart syndrome – essentially, half the pumping action of her heart. See how her parents trusted our specialists at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Heart Institute to care for Ariana and their family.

Heart Surgery Survivor Johnny’s Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Story

In 2012, Johnny had heart surgery at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Each year, he runs the Tour de Broward 5K, reuniting with his surgeon, chief of the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Heart Institute, Frank Scholl, MD. Johnny and his parents explain what Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital means to them and Dr. Scholl explains how helping patients like Johnny inspires our team. Breathing Easier & Growing - Noah’s Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Story

Noah was born with respiratory distress syndrome and developed subglottic stenosis. Dr. Samuel Ostrower performed surgery at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital to open his airway. Noah’s parents explain the difference Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital made for their family, and how the care they’ve received has helped Noah become a very active boy.
