Pediatric Endocrinology Clinical Trials

Study Title Description
Ertugliflozin T2DM Pediatric Study (MK-8835/PF04971729) A Phase 3, Multicenter, Double-blind, Randomized, Placebocontrolled Clinical Study to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of Ertugliflozin (MK8835/PF-04971729) in Pediatric Participants (Ages 10 to 17 Years, Inclusive) With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
This study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of ertugliflozin (MK-8835) in pediatric participants with T2DM on metformin with/without insulin. The primary hypothesis of the study is that the addition of ertugliflozin reduces hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C) more than the addition of placebo after 24 weeks of treatment.
INHALE-1 Afrezza® INHALE-1 Study in Pediatrics
NHALE-1 is a Phase 3, open-label, randomized clinical study evaluating the efficacy and safety of Afrezza in combination with a basal insulin (i.e., the Afrezza group) versus insulin aspart or insulin lispro in combination with a basal insulin (i.e., the Rapid-acting Insulin Analog [RAA] injection group) in pediatric subjects with type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus.
TrialNet
TrialNet Pathway to Prevention of T1D
The accrual of data from the laboratory and from epidemiologic and prevention trials has improved the understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). Genetic and immunologic factors play a key role in the development of T1DM, and characterization of the early metabolic abnormalities in T1DM is steadily increasing. However, information regarding the natural history of T1DM remains incomplete. The TrialNet Natural History Study of the Development of T1DM (Pathway to Prevention Study) has been designed to clarify this picture, and in so doing, will contribute to the development and implementation of studies aimed at prevention of and early treatment in T1DM.
