About Me
I am a pediatric cardiologist at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, dedicated to helping children and teens with heart concerns. I specialize in screening for undiagnosed heart conditions and treating adolescents with symptoms such as dizziness, chest pain, heart murmurs, and fatigue. I also manage chronic heart conditions, providing regular follow-up care to monitor and support my patients’ long-term heart health.
With a mother who was a teacher and a father who was a surgeon, a career in medicine felt like a natural path. Pediatric cardiology captivated me because of my passion for solving puzzles and navigating complex algorithms. I find deep fulfillment in uncovering the complexities of heart health through evidence-based approaches—a drive that led me to pioneer nitric oxide inhalation therapy and develop a nitric oxide delivery device in the 1990s.
My approach to care is personal and compassionate. I treat each patient as if they were part of my own family, aiming to offer clarity and peace of mind. One of the rewarding aspects of pediatric cardiology is that we can often provide answers in just one visit, giving families the reassurance they need.
In addition to patient care, I have a strong background in research, teaching, and professional collaboration within pediatric cardiology. Before focusing on community medicine in South Florida, I held faculty positions at the University of Florida and the University of Missouri, where I received grants from the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association.
I have also served as a reviewer for over a dozen medical journals and enjoy mentoring the next generation of doctors and researchers. Locally, I’ve been a board member for the American Heart Association and contribute to quality improvement initiatives to continually enhance patient care.
